The Dental Wand arrives

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The Dental Wand is a new computer controlled device that administers local anaesthetic at a slow and steady flow speed. By means of controlling the flow of local anaesthetic this ensures that there is minimum discomfort for our patients.

Most people have had experiences of discomfort associated with visits to the dentist. The team at the Berkeley Clinic are always looking at new ways in making our patients experience a pleasant one. In most cases people associate the discomfort from local anaesthetic to be caused by the needle. In fact, this is not the case. Any discomfort during this procedure is from the flow of anaesthetic being too great at any given time. The Dental Wand takes away the possibility of human error and ensures the patient does not experience any discomfort.

A great number of people suffer from Dental Anxiety and the team at the Berkeley Clinic are here to help you. We have hepled many of our patients eliminate their Dental Phobias and have a true understanding of how debilitating it can be for someone experiencing Dental Fear. Please feel free to talk to any member of the team in confidence and we can take the neccesary steps in providing you with a relaxed experience. When looking for a Cosmetic Dentist Glasgow who can make a difference, look no further.

First clinic in Scotland to offer the dental button

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The Berkeley Clinic is the first practice in Scotland to offer the ‘dental button’- a device which literally gives control to the patient. By pushing a button, patients can stop the power supply to the dentist’s handpiece and therefore immediately stop dental treatment at any time.

The team at the Berkeley Clinic are continually striving to offer the best possible care for people who suffer from dental anxiety. We understand how difficult it can be for many people to even hear the word ‘dentists’. Dr. Mike Gow uses various phobia management techniques to help with these fears and it is very common that our patients who visit us with dental anxiety, eventually are completely releaved of their fears.

If you suffer from dental fear please arrange a consultation with Dr Michael A. Gow BDS (Gla) MSc Hyp (Lon)
President of The British Society of Medical & Dental Hypnosis (Scotland)

Winner of:
‘Best Young Dentist- Scotland 2008′- The Dentistry Awards.

Berkeley Clinic offers b-Calm system for dental anxiety

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The Berkeley Clinic is one of the first dental practices to offer the ‘b-Calm’ system which uses a complex blend of frequency patterns specifically designed to mask sounds of the dental environment. This device functions as an “acoustic anesthetic” allowing you to control your own level of relaxation, reducing anxiousness and pain perception.

b-Calm is a personal audio system that was designed to relieve patients who suffer from dental phobias of the noises from dental procedures as well as promote a calm and relaxed mind. The ‘b-Calm’ system utilizes in-earphones to execute the AudioSedation technology; a proprietary blend of noise eliminating signals optimized within the calming sounds of nature. The b-Calm system allows the patient to gain control of their dental experience, all in the palm of their hand.

To see what patients think about the ‘b-Calm’ system please visit http://b-calmdental.com/

Dentistry in 3D

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Dr. Cool….. we mean of course Dr. Jamie Newlands has a new pair of shades, and a big smile to match as he recieves the only LAVA COS scanner in the UK. The scans can be viewed in 3D to give the dentist and patient an enhanced view for more acurate results.

Jamie was chosen by 3M ESPE to be the first dentist to have and launch the new LAVA Chairside Oral Scanner in the UK. This is exciting times for both dentists and patients of the clinic as we strive to provide the best treatments available and utilise the latest technologies. It’s also a real achievement for Scotland that a Glasgow dentist is at the top of the tree when it comes to digital dentistry.  Outstanding results and happy patients are what makes The Berkeley Clinic stand out from the rest when it comes to chosing your cosmetic dentist.

2010 will be a great year for the Berkeley Clinic

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Happy New Year from the team at the Berkeley Clinic, Private Dentists Glasgow.

What a fantastic year we have had in 2009 with the highlight being Dr. Jamie Newlands winning ‘Best Youg Dentist Scotland’ at the prestigious Private Dentistry Awards in London.

The Berkeley Clinic has always been at the forefront of new developments in procedures and technology. Dr. Newlands launced the LAVA Chairside Oral Scanner which is an exciting peice of technology that eliminates the need for gloopy impressions. Dr. Mike Gow was the first dentist in the UK to launch the Dental Button, a welcomed new development for sufferers of dental phobias as it put the patient in control. One push of the button stops the handpiece the dentist is using, so any work done is in the confidence that you have control.

Jawscan continues to go from strength-to-strength as more sufferers of TMD find out about the work that we are doing. We have now helped a great deal of people who have been experiencing signs and symptoms of these debilitating conditions and we continue to deliver the best possible care available for TMD.

We look forward to making 2010 a great success for our patients and friends.

All the best,
