Restore Your Smile with Dental Implants
Tuesday, March 17th, 2015
If you’re sick and tired of feeling self-conscious about your smile because of missing teeth, there are treatments available at Berkeley Clinic that can restore your self-confidence. One such treatment is the insertion of dental implants. Dental implants are the closest artificial substitutes you can get for healthy-looking natural teeth, and can significantly improve your appearance. If cared for in the right way, implants can last for many years, and continue to improve your smile without needing to be replaced on a regular basis. Our dental team can place the highest-quality implants on the market, allowing you to feel confident about yourself again and live your life without worrying about your teeth.
When you lose a tooth and fail to get it replaced, sufficient bone deterioration can occur as a result. Getting implants inserted can actively preserve the structure of your jawline, meaning that the appearance of your entire face is improved as well your teeth and smile.
Dental implants are titanium posts that substitute for tooth roots. Your dentist will enact the procedure by carefully inserting these implants directly into the jawbone. The titanium material then fuses with the bones in the jaw, creating a tough foundation similar to that of a real tooth. Small posts are also attached to the implant, which provide further stability for the replacement tooth.
The entire procedure is carried out using local anaesthetic, with our dental team’s proficiency meaning that you will feel no pain and be extremely happy with the final results.
If you are seriously considering implants, you will need to consult our clinical staff, who will conduct a thorough examination of your current oral hygiene and scrupulously study your dental history. A patient must meet certain specifications in order to be eligible for implants, and our team will use all the necessary information at hand to determine if you are a suitable candidate. If your mouth is deemed unsuitable for implants, there are still ways to make yourself become eligible for treatment. One such way is through a method called bone grafting. This process involves taking bone from elsewhere in the jaw, and placing it at the implant site instead. Missing teeth can also cause gum damage, and you may find yourself to be unsuitable for implants due to damaged gum tissue. This can be rectified through the process of soft tissue reconstruction, which actively rebuilds lost tissue and makes the mouth suitable for any implant insertions.
Implants can be fixed in a variety of ways depending on each individual patient’s specifications. This can involve a replacement of a single missing tooth, or several teeth which is known as a “fixed bridge”. A fixed bridge may only require two or three implants, but can substitute for several teeth. Certain patients may also be appropriate candidates for the Bar Attachment Denture treatment, which allows for all reconstructive tooth surgery to be completed and implants to be inserted in a single session.
